About Software Centre

Böblingen/Sindelfingen

Founded in 1996, the Centre pools together the expertise of more than 130 companies, including many from overseas. In total, more than 1.000 members of staff are employed here. The available office space extends to more than 15.000 square metres. The way the companies work together is an important success factor.

This has resulted in the formation of strong software clusters. Examples include software solutions for the manufacturing industry, financial services companies, and business and commerce. Equally, many solutions are offered for mobile applications.

In the Software Centre we respond flexibly to your space requirements. You do not need to keep space in reserve. We can provide additional space in the Software Centre at short notice as required.

The website provides various search options to give an overview of the wide range of services the companies offer and their respective areas of expertise. Here, customers can select the product or service they require.

Membership

If your company develops, advises on, provides training for, or markets software and/or IT products or offers associated services, then the Software Centre is the right place for you. The decision concerning your move to us is taken quickly and without red tape. We check whether your company complements our software competence. Different forms of membership are available. Internal members have rented offices or a “virtual office” at Software Centre Böblingen/Sindelfingen. External members do not have an office on site, but make use of the Software Centre’s services and work in cooperation with companies in the Software Centre.

Location

Software Centre Böblingen/Sindelfingen is located in the south of Stuttgart Region, which is a metropolitan area in the southwest of Germany. It’s about 20 minutes from Stuttgart Airport and 25 minutes form Stuttgart city centre.

About 2.7 million people live in Stuttgart Region. In fact, with 708 people per square kilometre, it is one of the most densely populated areas in Germany.

Situated at the heart of Baden-Württemberg and Europe, Stuttgart Region is the hub of economic, scientific, and political life in southwest Germany. The area currently has Germany’s highest concentration of scientific, academic and research organisations, and tops the national league for patent applications.

The gross domestic product for Stuttgart Region was recorded at about €35,000 per capita and about €64,000 per employed person. The unemployment rate is about 4%.

Stuttgart Region is one of Europe’s most important and most successful economic centres. This is due not only to the influence of leading international companies, such as Daimler, Porsche, Robert Bosch, Celesio, Hewlett-Packard and IBM (all of which have their world or German headquarters here), but also to the influence of world-renowned medium-sized enterprises such as Behr, Dürr, Kärcher, Märklin, Stihl, Festo, TTS Tooltechnic Systems, GEZE and Trumpf.

Hewlett-Packard (German headquarters), IBM (German headquarters), and the largest Mercedes-Benz plant and research centre in the world (Mercedes-Benz Sindelfingen) are situated very close to the Software Centre.

In total, approximately 150,000 companies are located in Stuttgart Region. 24% of employees in Stuttgart Region work in the high-tech sector – the highest proportion in Europe.
